Sinead O’Malley

Sinead Volunteer

I volunteered for whistle in 2018 and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Along with 10 others I helped to paint and renovate a boy’s orphanage, Whistle created a new kitchen for the boys along with other recreational areas. The dorms were cleaned, painted and new mosquito nets provided. The boys helped and we had so much laughter and joy and it is something I will never forget.

Everyone worked tirelessly to finish what we came to accomplish under the amazing leadership of the founder Caroline.  It was exhausting on the body, but it truly is giving back from the soul. Again, a feeling I can only ever thank Whistle for.

Whistle provides support for anyone in need.  The charity has built a school and provides books and uniforms for children who attend from the slums.

I met some wonderful children and lovely fellow volunteers.

Those living and working in Nairobi are the most beautiful kind-hearted people I have ever had the privilege to meet. Just being in their presence is humbling and makes you want to be a better human being.

Whistle is charity that knows no bounds when it comes to giving. Whistle identifies a need and does everything it can to make it happen. From building and financially supporting a school to giving and providing day trips to children with special needs.

Whistle is a charity that creates memories for children and that is one thing that can never be underestimated.  I saw the children’s faces as we gave them a pizza party on our last night. Something so simple that gave so much joy.

I would volunteer again in a heartbeat and would recommend anyone to do it. Whistle is the charity that will give your soul the fuel it needs.
